Abstract

Limbah plastik sulit terurai sehingga diperlukan teknologi pengolahan yang efektif, salah satunya melalui pirolisis untuk menghasilkan bahan bakar cair sebagai alternatif pemanfaatan limbah plastik. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis dan membandingkan karakteristik bahan bakar cair hasil pirolisis plastik LDPE dan PP berdasarkan nilai kalor, densitas, dan viskositas sebagai parameter utama, serta panas spesifik dan konduktivitas termal sebagai parameter pendukung. Penelitian menggunakan reaktor batch berkapasitas 1 kg tanpa katalis dengan masing-masing 500 g LDPE dan PP serta pemanas LPG. Pirolisis dilakukan pada temperatur operasi 300 °C selama 150 menit setelah temperatur mencapai set-point, dengan tekanan operasi 0,3–0,4 Bar gauge. Hasil pengamatan kamera termal menunjukkan peningkatan temperatur permukaan reaktor dari 119,9 °C, 204,2 °C hingga 300,9 °C. Bahan bakar cair LDPE menghasilkan nilai kalor 38,62 MJ/kg, densitas 0,7167 g/ml, viskositas 0,90 mm²/s, panas spesifik 8,200 kJ/kg·K, dan konduktivitas termal 2,558 W/m·K, sedangkan bahan bakar cair PP menghasilkan nilai kalor 40,62 MJ/kg, densitas 0,7333 g/ml, viskositas 0,91 mm²/s, panas spesifik 9,220 kJ/kg·K, dan konduktivitas termal 2,875 W/m·K. Hasil perbandingan menunjukkan bahwa bahan bakar cair PP memiliki nilai kalor, densitas, viskositas, panas spesifik, dan konduktivitas termal yang lebih tinggi dibandingkan bahan bakar cair LDPE pada kondisi operasi yang sama. Hasil penelitian memberikan informasi mengenai perbedaan karakteristik fisik dan termal bshan bakar cair hasil pirolisis LDPE dan PP serta dapat menjadi data awal dalam pengembangan pemanfaatan limbah plastik sebagai bahan bakar alternatif.
